After eight months of crazy photo missions completed by thousands of players across the world, Appysnap is now shutting down shop.
The Codeworks team have had an amazing time with the game, and done things that we never have done. Herb, Joeli and Wayne Gibbens from Viadeo acted like Rock Starts at Wired2011, Chris Green swung the bat at Summer Net Together, Joeli and Laura said cheers to the weekend, Emilia and Nicky sat up and down in the office, and we celebrated Appysnap with Kieron Donoghue at GameHorizon 2011.
Appysnap’s Paul Smith thanked all the players and wrote in the game’s final newsletter:
“We’re truly sad it has to end. Appysnap will send its final mission this Sunday. We covered off the reasons for moving on in a recent blog post. It’s not that the app hasn’t enjoyed your support: over 1,000 snaps a day were submitted by players, with nearly half of all registered users checking into the app every month, and one in five players using Appysnap every day.”
Jon and Paul from NeverOddOrEven who are behind Appysnap will be trying out some new projects in the coming year.
